“The Future of Food: How realistic is an entirely local food system?”

A discussion hosted by ABC South East’s Ian Campbell and featuring special guests Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgadis and science communicator and author Dr Julian Cribb.

This is sure to be an enjoyable evening with plenty of fun and some serious conversation about where our food will come from. Gates open at 5.30 for BYO picnic dinner in the SAGE community garden with a 7pm kick off.

Southeast Harvest Regional Food Festival
9.00am to 3.00pm
Riverside Park, Moruya
Bring along the whole family to celebrate the Spring harvest. There will be a large array of interactive stalls featuring local produce and locally made delicacies, as well as displays promoting more sustainable living.
ABC Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis will be there, introducing stall holders to the crowd and getting involved with games for the kids.
Enjoy music from a variety of artists as they busk throughout the day.
The Main Event Marquee will host a fascinating program of talks from a diverse collection of speakers and a cooking demonstration using local and seasonal produce.

|Melanie has a passion for slow food and healthy living. As practitioner of Ayurveda and Metabolic Nutrition, Melanie believes in the power of seasonal growing and eating. Watch Melanie create a variety of quick and easy seasonal dishes, using ingredients sourced from our local growers.|

|Julian Cribb is one of Australia’s most experienced science communicators and writers. In this session, Dr Cribb will discuss the impending crises that threaten food production globally and what we need to do to avoid them.Is local food production the answer?|

|Do you love cheese? If you enjoy making your own cheese at home, bring some along to have it tasted get feedback from expert cheesemaker, Erica Dibden. All your cheesemaking questions will be answered. Erica will also be demonstrating how to make butter at home. This session is all about healthy, wholesome dairy.|

Come along and enjoy morning tea at the SAGE garden. $5 gets you some cake or a muffin and an endless cuppa (or $15 a family). Enjoy the gardens, find out how it all began and what SAGE is focussing on now. There’ll be music, some info sessions and the ability to meet the SAGE committee members and ask the hard questions.
