Chew the Fat has established itself over the last few years as a unique, stimulating forum for discussion of specific fresh topics related to sustainable agriculture in our region.  In true style, this year’s Chew the Fat will throw more fat onto that fire.

The Talking About this Country forum will bring together local traditional Walbunja knowledge holders, contemporary food producers, a climatologist and a geologist to reflect on our broader agricultural histories. The discussion will weave around topics such as traditional sea and land food gathering, geological histories and impacts, effects of climate change on agriculture, and local farming practices and futures. What lessons can we learn from the past to feed us on future harvests?
 
Come along, join the conversation, bring a picnic and drinks, free entry.

Bring along the whole family to celebrate the Autumn harvest. There will be stalls featuring local produce and locally made delicacies, as well as displays promoting more sustainable living and children’s games and activities.

The Main Event Pavilion will host a fascinating program of talks from a diverse collection of speakers on our theme:

“First Farmers to Future Harvests” – bringing together local knowledge holders in Aboriginal and contemporary food production and harvest.
We are thrilled to have authors Bruce Pascoe (Dark Emu) and John Newtown (The Oldest Foods on Earth) attending as guest speakers and About Regional’s Ian Campbell moderating the speakers program.
